Thursday morning was warmer. The best news Thursday morning was that the Italian police had located U.S. General James Dozier and that he was safe. He was reportedly chained to a bed in the "Red Terrorist Prison." Five of his captors were arrested. President Reagan will ask Congress to withhold taxes on Americans’ interest and dividend income as part of his plan for narrowing a giant budget deficit without raising personal taxes. Treasury Secretary Donald T. Reagan told a congressional committee that the proposals call for banks and corporations to withhold 5 percent of an individual’s interest and dividend income. The Philadelphia Bulletin, once the nation’s largest afternoon daily will publish its last edition today because of growing financial losses. Continued On Back Page Larry Denton For Commissioner Larry Denton, 39, a Democrat has announced for Polk County Commissioner. He makes his home in Columbus. He is a native of Polk County and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Denton. He has spent most of his life in Polk County and is a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Saluda Jaycees when he made his home in Saluda He is married to the former Betty Murry of Spartanburg and they have two daughters, Gail, age 9 and Glenda, age7, students at Stearns Elementary School. For Commissioner Ted Owens Ted Owens, chairman of the Polk County Economic Development Commission filed Wednesday as a Republican candidate for the office of Polk Continued On Back Page Bus Accident A two vehicle wreck, one a school bus took place Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. on Blanton Street, Columbus. A Stearns School bus driven by Katrina Shambaugh was headed east when a vehicle operated by Kenneth Pack of Columbus came around a curve, headed west. The 1968 Chevrolet driven by Pack was left of center and the two vehicles hit head on. According to Patrolman C. T. Kennedy who investigated the accident, neither vehicle was traveling at a fast speed. Patrolman Kennedy reported that Pack had let someone out of the car and was looking back in his rear view mirror and there was the bus Minor damage was lone to the bus and several hundred dollars damage was done to the car Mr. Pack was charged with driving vehicle left if center. No one was injured. Presently serving as the president of the Polk Central School Band Parents Association and as chief of the Sunny View Volunteer Fire Department, Wilson is a 15 year veteran employee of Southern Bell Telephone Company serving as a cable repair technician in the Lake Lure area. He attended Sunny View Elementary School and Mill Spring High School before entering the U.S. Navy where he served a four year tour of duty.
